Hello, my name is Sarah, I am the author of Naptime Momtog. I am no professional photographer by any means, but I do love taking photos of my boys. I wanted to give some tips about photography children. We all know they move quickly and it is hard to get a good photo.
- Take close up photos. Of their face, ears, nose, toes, hands. Great to document the little details.
- You want to get down on their level.
- Try and use natural light as much as possible.
- If you have to use your built in flash. You can buy one of these. It is a cheap alternative to an external flash
- Make sure you have your shutter speed at least 200. Since kids move very quickly. You need to have a fast shutter speed.
- Consider your background. You don’t want too much clutter to distract from your sweet baby.
- Make sure you include yourself in photos. You don’t want to look back in 20-30 years and sad that you do not having any pictures of you and your kids. There is a new linky that I participate to encourage this.
Thanks Amy for letting me guest post. Congratulations on your newest baby girl!
Great post! I also checked out the new linky. Very cool. I’m going to do it! Have a fabuous day!
Great tips Sarah… your boys are adorable. 🙂 I’ve been thinking of getting one of those light scoops for awhile now. I think it’s time to stop waiting and just get one. lol
