babyA break! – with all the craziness of a new baby, it’s important to find time for yourself and have a date with the hubby or even just taking time to relax in the bath!

A truck load of diapers…seriously – In a baby’s first year, new parents will have brought home an average of 2,788 diapers for a total cost of $557.60 *based on an average price of 20 cents per disposable diaper

An afternoon nap! – There are days when I find myself falling asleep while trying to get Natalie down for a nap. Even if I don’t actually sleep, just laying down and resting helps a lot.

The right diaper bagChoosing the right diaper bag for your situation is important!

If you’re nursing, nipple ointment – Learning to breastfeed with Natalie was extremely difficult and I was in a lot of pain! Haley latched very well and was much easier but I still have sore days and continue to use it as much as possible.

Moby Wrap - Original

A baby carrier – preferably a Moby Wrap – my sister let me borrow her Moby Wrap and I fell in love with it! You can wrap it a ton of different ways and they come in all kinds of colors and designs. Even “manly” designs for the daddy’s out there and mini mobys for children and their babies!

Coupons! – the cost diapers, blankets, toys, etc can get out of hand. It’s a good idea to stick to a budget and ask yourself if you truly need it before buying it.

A camera – I recommend a camera that take sequential shots very quickly! Kids do the funniest things and you want to make sure you capture it!

cameraA sense of humor – once again, kids do the funniest things! Sometimes its fun to sit back and be silly with them.

And lastly, a blog! – Every new mommy needs blog to share her motherhood moments. Plus blogging is a great way to stay up to date and connect with other new mommies!
