Have you seen Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead?? If not, you should totally check it out! If you have Netflix, you can stream it – like we did. It’s about a guy that decides he needs to take control of his life and body and begins to juice for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!

My sister just recently did it for a week straight! Nothing but juice all day, everyday for 6 full days!! She lost 9 pounds! She started back slow, eating fruits and veggies, 2.5 pounds came back once she stopped juicing but a pound a day is great boost for weightloss!

Fresh Fruit

I really need to try to lose some weight! It’s been almost 6 months since I gave birth to Haley and I haven’t been able to exercise due to my surgery so eating healthy is currently my ONLY option!

My husband still has some “baby weight” he needs to lose too, and he thinks juicing would be a great way to do it. We’re not talking full blown juicing for breakfast, lunch, and dinner but replacing one meal a day – like breakfast, since it gets skipped most of the time anyways.

My husband has an issue with eating veggies so this is a great way to get those food groups in! A good majority of his juice is fruit but has other things like Kale, Cucumber, and Broccoli – things he DOES NOT eat. If it’s not meat, potatoes, green beans, or corn, then he’s probably not going to eat it!! Which he knows is not healthy!

Juicing Fruit

For the first juicing experience, we used a JuiceMan juicer which was given to us for free… so of course the hubby wants to spend money on a top of the line Breville juicer! Lol. The JuiceMan surprisingly worked just fine and although a more expensive juicer may give us a better juice yield, I think we should stick it out with the one we got!

Our FIRST Juicing Recipe:

  • 2 Apples
  • 1 Peach
  • 1 Pear
  • Kale (large handful)
  • 1 whole Cucumber
  • 1 whole Lemon
  • 8-9 small Strawberries

This recipe was a total creation of things we had just bought at the store. We added other things in as we went along and tasted. The strawberries (even though it was a small amount) gave it a nice sweet flavor. The cucumber has a TON of liquid yield so it’s easy to get a cucumber-y flavor. The lemon (including the peel) was a very important ingredient. It gives the juice a zesty flavor and cuts the veggie flavor!

Hopefully this is something we can do on a regualr basis, for us AND the babies! (Natalie likes to drink the juice with a straw!) I plan to share new found recipes as we go. If you have any great juicing recipies to share, I’d love to hear about them!!
