I’m deleting my blog!

Okay well maybe not deleting it completely but I absolutely considered it and I know it definitely needs some work. I’m really burnt out on blogging!

Someone recently asked my why I started blogging and honestly I really started blogging as a release. A kind of hobby. But it seems like it quickly turned into more work and less play. I still write posts I’m passionate about but generally they are just letting off steam or end up being a random jumbled mess from my brain (like this post) and they never get published.

content-is-king

I’ll admit my blog has been crap these past few months. Probably not something I’d personally be interested in reading. “Content is king!”

Don’t get me wrong, I love doing reviews and sponsored posts but I feel like I need more of a mix. I need more of the things I enjoy like photography, crafts, and food! I stopped doing my SOOC Saturday due to pure laziness. Although it was usually the easiest and most enjoyable post I got to write all week.

I was never originally thrilled with the name of my blog. Marvelous Mommy? Sounds a bit conceited to me, although that’s not how it was intended. I’d like to start over with a new blog, new name, new design but with that comes that hassle of building followers and page rank and all that fun stat stuff.

I’ve read quite a few blogs lately (one in particular) that I truly want to read. They constantly spit words out on paper that keep you intrigued and wanting to read more. A skill that I don’t naturally have.

I guess I don’t really know what I want. This post is alllll over the place. My domain name expires in December and although I plan to renew it, come January 2013 I hope to revamp my blog into a much more enjoyable place to visit.

Thanks to all you folks that have been here since the beginning and continue to follow!! Love Y’all!

Shot of the Moon!! #WordlessWednesday *Linky*

As you may know, I recently I tried photographing the moon… and it turned out horribly. I was not prepared! Then when I was ready, I realized I needed a full moon. And then I set a reminder (that's another story) to remind me to photograph the full moon. And then I delayed it 2 more days.

Anyways after doing a little research and having more time to actually play with the camera, I got a shot! This is my first ever non-blurry shot of the moon!

Thanks Emily for some great info on how to photograph the moon!

Here's the settings I used:

One of the hardest things was trying to find a straight shot of the moon that didn't have tree limbs in it!

P90X Week 3 | Menu Plan Monday

This week was a difficult week. My nephew just graduated USMC boot camp and was home for 10 days (he left today) so I was gone visiting him (which makes it harder to eat healthy when you’re not home) and we had lots of yummy fattening celebration food while he was here. I did do some photographs for him though and I got some exercise walking around and shooting!

Then my hubby passed his work certification Thursday so we went out Saturday night with his sister and her man to celebrate. We went bowling (burned some calories) and ate at the Japanese Hibachi Grill where they cook right in front of you.

(Oh and we had a TON of liqueur and cookies at the bowling alley. Calories Calories Calories!)

AND I missed 4 days of working out this week. Yes FOUR.

I said it was a DIFFICULT week!

On the bright side, I did lose 3 pounds this week!

The menu plan has gotten easier. Easier to plan, not to follow. Luckily our “diet” is mostly protein!

Edit Me Photo Challenge | Week 2 #editmechallenge

I recently found this new photo challenge where you edit a SOOC image using your editing program of choice. Then you link up and see what everyone else came up with. It’s really simple and fun for all levels of photographers. I am using Photoshop CS5.

I use actions quite often. If you don’t know what an action is, I strongly suggest learning! They are great for doing simple edits and effects!

I used the Fresh and Colorful PW action and softened the skin for my Basic Edit.

I like the close-up cropped ones above but this one ended up being my favorite. I love the softness of the color and the blur in the window. It feels like such a quiet place.

Most of the Photoshop actions I used above were (or a combination of) the Pioneer Woman Action Set 1. But you can download both sets for free!
(Sweet right?!)
