My husband just bought me the coolest machine ever made!! I guess you could call it an early Mother’s Day present! I had no idea it’d be so easy to talk him into it. If I had known that, I would’ve gotten one years ago!!
Seriously though, we both love and use our new Silhouette Cameo for everything!! I’ve literally had it a week and I’ve already gone through 20 foot of black vinyl! It can cut just about anything.
Like a printer, the Silhouette plugs into your computer with a USB cable. However, instead of printing it uses a small blade to cut paper, cardstock, vinyl, fabric and more.
Scrapbook pages * Cards * Custom apparel * Vinyl décor * Etched glass * Sketch designs * Temporary tattoos * Paper crafts
I told my husband I wanted a Cameo. He researched them and he bought one two days after I told him about it! He didn’t even tell me, just bought it! We got the bundle starter kit from Amazon and I got an extra cutting mat and an extra blade. I also got a fabric cutting blade which I haven’t used yet and a pack of sketch pens which you can actually draw with instead of cutting.
This machine isn’t designed for cutting fondant, but as soon as I find the handle to my fondant roller you better believe I’m going to run some fondant through there! There’s also a cutting blade (not sold by Silhouette) that someone created to engrave metal and even glass! Pretty freakin’ cool, huh?!
Like I said before, I’ve only had this machine one week today but here’s a few projects we’ve done so far:
Atlanta Falcons Etched Glass on a wine glass (this was a practice glass)
Custom Wall Decal – Love this one!
Custom Nail Art – Love this one too! This is black vinyl stuck on like stickers but you could also use the vinyl as a stencil and paint over it and pull the vinyl off after it dries! Too cool! This is an Instagram shot – Follow me on Instagram!

Very cool! What a great hubby you have! I have a cricut, but have barely even touched the thing! (oops!)
Ohhhhhh! That is the COOLEST thing I’ve ever seen! I NEED one of those – thanks for the brilliant idea for a Mother’s Day gift (for me!) 🙂 I’m giggling over the mustaches on your toes – that’s hilarious (and genius!) 🙂

I have one and a cricut and love them! They are so useful around the house when it’s party time too!
Hmm neat. I’ve never seen these. I’m not terribly crafty so it would probably collect dust in my house but I can see it being pretty cool if you are more crafty or art inclined!
The nail art is amazing! What a cool machine!
Oh wow what a great machine and I LOVE the toes, so funky

Cool new toy and a very cool hubby. Love the wall!
OOh! That does look like a fun toy! I can think of so many ways I’d use it, but I’ll just have to live vicariously thru you, ha!
That is too cool. I love how the nail decals turned out.

Have a great week! Karren
I’m so jealous!! that is my dream gift but there are more urgent things to spend the $$ on at our house.. Your hubby definitely got it right!! have fun!!
Now I want one!
Wow, your hubby did good. This seems like the way to go over the “other” one since it works directly with your computer…meaning you don’t need cartridges, right?
Yep no cartridges! The blade is the only thing that really needs to be replaced and they are only $10 so not too bad!
How cool is that?!? The toenails are my favorite – so funny!
What a great gift! I’ve been enjoying seeing all of the things you’ve made with it. For years, I’ve had an idea of stenciled cards that I wanted to make, but I could never find the stencils I wanted. I just might have to buy a Silhouette Cameo and make them myself!
So cool! And awesome that you have a man who knows you well enough to get something that neat!
Not such a wordless post, but MAN I an envious of your machine! 🙂 The nail art is fun!
The nail art is awesome! It looks like so much fun!
How did you get the Falcon image?
Love this…Great job!!
I found a Falcon’s logo online and use the Silhouette Studio to trace and detach the logo. There are lots of tutorials and youtube videos that will show you how to do it.
