I told you before about how my doctor is a jerk!! And now I know he’s an idiot too! He’s one of those doctors that can’t stand to be in the room for longer than 5 minutes. And he never listens to what I have to say about my progress or to my questions!
At my last visit, I was told we would probably remove my stitches. I was also told this the visit before that too, so I really never know what to expect.
Immediately when I get there, I start explaining that I felt like my stitches had been extremely sore for the past few days and I felt like they had been ripped open some.
What do I get?? With his back turned to me, walking half way out the door… “Oh I’ll just take a look.”
So I stop explaining my issues and allow him to examine me. He decides to remove the stitches.
As I said, the stitches were extremely sore so even with pain meds, I am whining and complaining…
THEN he starts pulling really hard, trying to remove the stitches.
ME: OUCH!!!
DOC: Just bear with me.
ME: NO!! STOP! STOP! STOP!
DOC: Almost done.
ME: NO! NO! NO!
DOC: Uh-oh!
Sure enough! All that pulling and tugging had TORN MY STITCHES back open!! And now I may need to have stitches put back in. If only he had listened to me in the first place!! Needless to say, I’m pretty irritated and in pain!
Oh and for the icing on the cake – he tells me healing time is……wait for it…… ANOTHER 6 weeks!!!!! WHAT?!?! I was told healing time was 4-6 weeks total to begin with. Not 10-12 weeks!!!
On the bright side, due to my surgery I have been blogging less and actually started watching Desperate Housewives on Netflix. I’m on Season 5 now! Only 2 more to go before the new season starts!!

Sounds like you need to shop for a new doctor. Technically that is a form of physical abuse since you told him to stop more than once and he continued which resulted in physical injury.
Oh my goodness! I am so sorry. Good doctors are so hard to find, but yours seems awful! I hope your healing is speedy!
So sorry you had to go through that. I have Kaiser and I’ve encountered the same problem at Kaiser. The doctors don’t listen or when they do they look at you like your making it up or your exaggerating your illness or kids. I think I know when I’m sick or in pain or when my kid is sick. I pretty much stopped going to Kaiser and go to our family doctor who is not at Kaiser and who does listen to me. I think you should talk to friends and see if they recommend another doctors. Hope you feel better.
Do they really need to put more stitches in or could they possibly use the stitch glue or even a butterfly bandaid? Poor thing…I do feel for you! Trying to catch up with my Sunday Hops today! I get alot of infections….alot something called strep cellulitis and also I am allergic to some stiches and one day a doctor had left some in my arm because he said were dissovable, he was a specialist and all this was after I told him dissolvable stiches do not dissole on me (had several instances) he left them in, needles to say me family doctor was cutting them out a few days later and my arm was infected so I needed antibiotics and to be re stiched, not to scare you but that looks infected to me and I would get another doctor to look to be on the safe side! I will also say OUCH! Looks extremely painful, hope it’s better soon:)
Never let doctors handle this issue. They don’t even know what it is. They base their practice on pure speculations.

PLEASE tell me you had success from this surgery! I have 4 month old twins and had my first flare-up while pregnant with them. I have now had it drained 3 times since December! Ugh! My doctor says it’s time for surgery because it is so active. He completely opens it up and leaves a big hole. I’m so scared. Any information or advice you have will be much appreciated!

I started having issues right after my second pregnancy. Mine was already draining by itself and I took very strong antibiotics but nothing helped. I didn’t have the surgery where they cut the entire thing open and leave a big open hole however they did cut a large hole over to the side which had to be packed and left open for many weeks bc it has to heal from the inside out. My dr told me it had to stay very clean and if any hair or dirt heal up in there it could cause another infection. It was incredibly painful. And even after the hole healed it was very painful and hard to sit for many months. It’s been almost a year and it still effects the way I sit (and for how long) and the way I sleep. It’s still very sensitive where the incision was and can’t put much pressure on it. My dr told me it was a simple outpatient surgery and I could be up and moving in 3 days — which was a total lie! I needed lots of help for a few weeks! (I later read the average time was 2 months.) I was a bit concerned after having the surgery that it would always be painful since I read something once that said having surgery could possibly make it worse, but overall I think I’m happy with the decision. The scar isn’t very bad and the pain now is minor to the full blown abscess. Let me know if you have any other questions. I’d be happy to share my experience with you.
